Many journalists are beaten and threatened. But now they have closed down 8 independent newspapers last week. Supposedly for writing reports about insurgency...which is exactly what newspapers are meant to do! I am from northern Yemen and don't support the splitting of south and north, but that doesn't mean we should close newspapers for doing a good job reporting problems. Now it is worse than all this. Many journalists are beaten and threatened. But now they have closed down 8 independent newspapers last week. The journalist was pardoned by the president recently and freed, then the stupid court of appeal continued the case inspite of the president's ruling.
