These outbursts of violence by the Uighers and the Tibetans are the result of tensions caused by these people feeling :
1) Their culture is being eroded by the influx of Han settlers,
2) Resentment that they are being economically and culturally marginalized in their own ancestral land,
3) Treated as second-class citizens and discriminated against by the majority Han Chinese.

It’s funny – if you look at a map of the real Tibet – the maps from before 1951, and look at a satellite map at nighttime showing where electricity is most-absent, and look at a linguistic map of where Tibetan is spoken today – -
The shape is the same.
Tibet is clearly defined: by history, by satellite, by linguistic evidence.

If Tibet were China, Chinese visas would work there. However, they don’t.
If Tibet were China, Tibetan citizens could travel abroad like Chinese citizens do. However, they can’t.
If Tibet were China, all Tibetans would speak Chinese. However, they don’t.
Therefore I conclude: Tibet is not China.

BEIJING Scholars, lawyers and writers have published an online letter calling for a boycott of Chinese Central Television (CCTV). The letter asks people to say no to CCTVs brainwashing, saying dont watch, dont participate, dont listen to, dont talk about any CCTV programs.The letter has a list of CCTVs fake coverage, including its favorable reporting on Sanlu. Open door?!?!? There was NOTHING open about China this summer. Revoked visas, revoked reservations, foreigners deported by the thousands, kicked out of their apartments; the only open-door policy was into the jails.

I suppose that makes you feel comfortable in your complicity but that doesn’t make it true. MAO caused the deaths of millions and millions of his own people, everyone knows that as well. All the lies in the world will not make what China has done to Tibet and the Tibetan people right. All the pointing and talking about old Tibet in order to justify and rationalize the invasion and occupation will not release you from your complicity. It’s just a matter of time.
