well if you smoke weed everyday, than you stop, there’s like one or maybe two days when you feel like you really want weed, but it’s not withdrawl, it’s more like not being able to play a video game or something. you just get bored and realize weed can make all sorts of simple things like movies, or video games, like 10 times better. i’ve actually never done any drugs which cause physical dependence like nicotine so it’s hard for me to compare, but “marijuana addiction” is only mental

Yes but this is in a different category than someone who is addicted to crack or meth. Someone who is addicted to shopping can show similar signs. There is a big difference between physical and mental addictions. Physical addiction can cause severe withdrawl symptoms hence crackheads doing whatever it takes to make the pain go away and get their high. Mental addiction can be caused by anything, someone who calls in sick just to stay home and play playstation could be mentally addicted.

You have just defined Alcoholics and Cigarette smokers with the first part of your comment. Breaking the law is only a result of Marijuana being illegal, which actually violates our Constitution and should never have been outlawed to begin with. I understand mommy and daddy don’t want you to smoke pot and that is great, but please quit the video games for a bit and learn from the rapidly expanding pool of new info and forget about the century of dis-info that currently forms your opinion.

Marijuana addict-> someone who cannot be convinced to stop and will use force and/or will show severe anger/hate when the idea of being cut off is brought up or is in action. Also, someone who wants to smoke it so badly that they will have to break the law but do so anyways.

@50defpure- Do please define your definition of a marijuana addict as it contains no physically addicting properties like nicotine or caffeine. There is no higher risk of it being abused by people anymore than alcohol yet that is legal, and far less damaging to the human body in comparison. I’m sorry for your cousin but my experience with people who use marijuana there has to be a lot more to the story and highly doubt marijuana was the contributing factor unless a drug deal gone bad.
February 2nd, 2010 at 6:08 pm
look at the example the dutch have set, i think that’ll explain a lot in relation to why cannabis should be legal way before alcohol is even considered in the argument.
February 2nd, 2010 at 6:08 pm
And when presented with this information you have so eloquently put forth and someone still decides to use marijuana who are you to say they cannot? There have been a lot of medical studies that actually show side effects from long term habitual use are only short term and go away after use is stopped. And have even shown that some of the brain damage caused by alcohol can be reversed.

I don’t smoke dope, but Mr.Jones makes an interesting and convincing argument.
February 2nd, 2010 at 6:08 pm
Don’t you find something morally wrong with the idea that you have to smoke a joint to feel good about yourself rather than accomplish something? The fact that one finds a substitute for the glory of success means that he will not have the urge to succeed and that it why marijuana smokers show a decreased intelligence level or appear to show one, it may not be due chemically but the lack of the will to achieve. It basically cheats the brain into thinking it has earned what it doesn’t deserve.
