Do our legal rights ultimately come from a god — specifically, the Christian god? No. Link to 1tmoch’s video “Relativism and Homos”: www.youtube.com Intro music: “My Rights, Your Rights” by Mad Professor
Separation of church and state is actually not in the constitution (yes, there is a freedom of religion) Separation of church and state was a slogan president Thomas Jefferson ran on to get the roman catholic vote(they were at the time what Muslims are today). As a matter of a fact, at first the constitution did not apply to the states, so while the fed could not have set up the church of the united states, there could have been a church of maine, or vermont ect. this is no longer true today
Anyway the image that popped in my head was when Muscovites swarmed the palace asking for their rulers to engage and address the problems they were facing.
Allegedly Rasputin who had been giving the Queen one, threw open the windows/doors to the balcony stark naked, faced the crowd, did a few thrusts of his pelvis at the crowd clearly displaying his enormous engorged member, so to speak & uttered the immortal words…
Lol Rasputin just popped in my head at the thought of a penis less priest
Apparently when Russians became increasingly pissed off with Tsar Nicholas II, & his wife the Tsaritsa Alexandra, for allowing Rasputin to run Russia more or less, as in Rasputin giving her one, Nicholas happy he did not have to
I never thought about that, but it’s true. Whenever someone says “US law is based on the bible”… since when has yahweh been for freedom of religion? Good call as always. What is it… 6th commandments against idolatry VS the 1st amendment of the US constitution.
In America maybe. Here in Ireland the politicians speak as fast as everyone else. Personally I think it takes from the vids because I’m left here thinking “Get to the point will you?”
If the Prof has anywhere I can read the transcript (like AronRa does) I could read it in 3 or less minutes. I would be happy to read them because I think he has interesting things to say.
I didn’t realise discrimination on the basis of sexual orentation was legal in most states of the U.S. What BS!
Is it legal for, say, a gay business owner to refuse employment to a straight person? If it is, then every gay business owner should refuse to employ straight people. I give it week before all the homophobes jump up and down crying ‘discrimination’ and get the law removed.
I think when you are trying to convey a message to a broad spectrum of people and you want everyone to understand, speaking slowly and clearly is essential. The same is true elsewhere and is noted, for example, among politicians all of whom tend to speak more slowly and clearly when giving an address than they do in everyday life. it is the right way to make a video.
Nicely done. I have run into this whole “God-given rights” nonsense many times and it is very annoying. Indeed, it is probably anti-patriotic and anti-American to attribute our hard won rights and the constant struggle to maintain them to space aliens (god, or whatever) as opposed to the real American patriots that have – and do – fight for them regularly. Anyway, I like the “Freedom of Religion” angle, that is – in my opinion – the best to slap down to this nonsense. Cheers.
Aaargh. Why do Americans talk so slowly. I’m sorry, as interesting as your video was I had to turn off half way. I could’ve said those 4 minutes in 2. Is there anywhere I can get the scripts of your videos so I can just read them?
“I question whether homosexuality is a ‘lifestyle’.”
I work for a company involved in medical coding, and ten or so years ago there a big switch among lots of countries to use one common dictionary called MedDRA. There were of course lots of debates on how to classify certain terms, among them “homosexuality.”
ENGLAND: it’s a psychiatric disorder
US: No, it’s a “social circumstance.”
JAPAN: it doesn’t matter to us, b/c there are no homosexuals in Japan. (!!!!)
Great video – 5 stars for the great contrasts between America’s freedom of religion vs. the bible, America’s ban on cruel punishments vs. the bible, etc.
Homosexual philosophy, eh? Too bad that was not a recognized field of philosophy while I was still taking practical philosophy as a university course. Would have made for one hell of an essay topic.
I’d say “philosophy” is in the same category of words as “freedom”. Words that are constantly being used to “boost” ones argument, however the terms themselves are never properly defined. Ask them what they mean exactly by philosophy or freedom and watch them tangle themselves up in their own words.

Statistically they have to. I mean if you make random claims for long enough something has to turn out to be right at some point… right? lol.

well lets assume all rights are given to us by god, what bearing would that give on anything and what would it change?
Human history shows very few inalienable rights and the rest humanity itself has created
