In England, when factories were new, they were spewing coal soot and dumping toxic waist, and ordinary people sued them.
The government passed laws saying you can’t sue the factories, and the U.S. inherited those laws.
The governments prevent people from defending themselves, then claims people need the government to protect them.
Sort of like gun control.

yeah it does, I listened to the anarchists for a little bit, to get the other side, but they seem to be over looking some serious problems
and you’re right, I too hail from delusion land

@LordVigeous666999 A valid point. In a society of people willing to do good with other people’s money backed up by deadly force, such as ours, anything will be abused. If both the voters and politicians would view all laws through the lens I, and I think you, see things through then abuse would be limited and subject to redress though the courts. However that is a fantasy land delusion of mine, and in the real world it ends up as you fear. That said, government has some legitimate functions.

true, but I don’t like that word externalities, because it gets used in a lot of areas where I think its abused
I mean, aren’t you better off that I’m fed? and therefore can work and produce and grow the economy? Does this mean the Gov should “internalize” the cost of food?
This argument can be twisted for everything. And I agree with you. But I don’t like it, because once you except that premise, its so easy for someone to push you into socialism

Internalizing externalities is a legitimate function of government.
