Azerbaijan Forced Evictions — Violation of Property Rights

Posted by admin on 21st May 2012

This video presents a complete report and timeline of events. The government of Azerbaijan has forcibly evicted homeowners and demolished their homes for urban development projects in the capital of Baku. Dozens of families have been evicted from the neighborhood where the arena for the May 2012 Eurovision Song Contest is being built. Human Rights Watch has documented the authorities’ illegal expropriation of properties and forcible evictions of dozens of families in four Baku neighborhoods, at times without warning or in the middle of the night. The authorities subsequently demolished homes, sometimes with residents’ possessions inside. The government has refused to provide homeowners fair compensation for the properties, many of which are in highly desirable locations even though Azerbaijani law stipulates that market value should be paid in compensation for a forced sale. In many cases, including in the National Flag Square area, the government has cut services or begun dismantling apartment buildings in which some residents remained. Demonstration Protest in Baku Azerbaijan to Demand Human Rights (May 14, 2012)

Posted by admin on 17th May 2012

Azerbaijani opposition parties have held an unsanctioned demonstration in Baku to demand that authorities permit them to hold public gatherings in the center of the capital. Dozens of activists, united in a group called the Public Chamber, gathered in a downtown Baku park on May 14. Police prevented protesters from marching to the mayor’s office, and several demonstrators were arrested. It was the second protest this month by the Public Chamber, which plans to publicly protest human-rights violations in Azerbaijan during the hosting of the prestigious Eurovision Song Contest in Baku on May 22-26. ======================================================== Geysar Gurbanov is a civil rights activist from Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan Eurovision 2012 Song Contest — A New Video on Human Rights

Posted by admin on 4th May 2012

This year one of the world’s biggest TV shows comes to Azerbaijan. Human rights organizations are urging the Azerbaijani government to address the truth about the country’s human rights record, and to release all Prisoners of Conscience (political prisoners and journalists) held since last spring following anti-government protests. In order to support this cause local journalists and human rights advocates have launched “Sing for Democracy” campaign. Azerbaijan’s human rights record deteriorated in 2011 and 2012. The government cracked down on all forms of protest and imprisoned dozens of youth activists after sham trials. Although the number of government-initiated criminal and civil libel cases against journalists decreased, the atmosphere for journalists and other critics remained hostile. The government’s so-called beautification campaign in central Baku, the capital, resulted in forced evictions and illegal demolitions. Restrictions on freedom of religion and torture and ill-treatment in custody also persisted. In 2012 among other cases, it is important to mention journalist Khadija Ismayil (who became a victim of sexual blackmail after her intimate video was released) and journalist Idrak Abbasov (who was severely beaten for filming illegal evictions). China : Censorship, Tibet and Human Rights Abuse – all in a day’s work for the Chinese government

Posted by admin on 1st May 2012

Testing the censors in China ! This video was made in January 2012 during a stop over at Guangzho Airport in China using a public computer in the Airport. Amazing! I tried looking up Tianaman Square, the Dalai Lama, Panchan Lama, Free Tibet, maybe Fulong Gong, Youtube and some articles on in The Guardian about Tibet. They all came up blank or directed to some minor article not associated. It was so amazing I had to film it and post it. So there is censorship of the web in China! Had to see it for myself. But Youtube? The Chinese oppression rolls on. Where will it be next ?

11/13 United States Gov murdered their own – Waco Texas

Posted by admin on 10th April 2012

This video series is in memory of the innocents that died in Waco, Texas February 28, 1993. It is also for those who believe that their government would never turn against them. There is still a lot of controversy surrounding the events of the Waco Siege. Some believe that the government murdered the Branch Davidians, while others are still not sure what to believe. One thing that cant be denied is the fact that 86 American citizens died as a result of the government siege, and the government proceeded to cover up what had happened with the mainstream media in full support of the cover up. Dont let what happened to them be forgotten, and remember what your government is capable of doing to their own people. Protect your rights & freedoms! Dont let your voice be silenced. I apologize if the title of the video series is found to be offensive to some, but it is a fact that the government had committed this atrocity against their own people. This is not to hate any American civilian or the country of the United States of America as a whole.
