URGENT! OBAMA Signs Anti-Protest Bill – FREE SPEECH & Protest will get you JAIL TIME! The First Amendment to the Constitution prohibits the government from infringing upon the freedom of speech, the freedom of association and the freedom to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Speech is language and other forms of expression; and association and petition connote physical presence in reasonable proximity to those of like mind and to government officials, so as to make your opinions known to them. The Declaration of Independence recognizes all three freedoms as stemming from our humanity. So, what happens if you can speak freely, but the government officials at whom your speech is aimed refuse to hear you? And what happens if your right to associate and to petition the government is confined to areas where those of like mind and the government are not present? This is coming to a street corner near you. Certain rights, like thought and privacy and travel, can be exercised on their own. You don’t need the government to cooperate with you; you just need to be left alone. Other rights, like those intended to influence the political process, require that the government not resist your exercise of them. Remember the old one-liner from Philosophy 101: If a tree falls in a forest and no one is there, does it make any noise? Here’s the contemporary version of that: If you can criticize the government, but it refuses to hear you, does your exercise of the freedom of …

this law is just ridiculous. it cannot be passed. I’m a 23 year old female and I do not support the government providing birth control to women on my expense THIS VIDEO IS A REFLECTION OF MY THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS AND OPINIONS. in no way am I claiming to be an expert on the subject; I watch the news in the morning and its something I had to speak on. “Freedom of speech is the political right to communicate one’s ideas via speech…The right to freedom of expression is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR)” – Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, adopted and opened for signature, ratification and accession by UN General Assembly resolution 2200A (XXI) of 16 December 1966, entry into force 23 March 1976
Implied malice aforethought … Such tactics have no place in a democracy. Yet Kozinski, Matz, and the LAPD has yet to condemn them. And by this silence, they signal tacit approval and encourage further abuses. See: Chief of Police sends cop to censor reporter at 12:30 am: news.google.com A quote from Judge Alex Kozinski: Liberty — the freedom from unwarranted intrusion by government — is as easily lost through insistent nibbles by government officials who seek to do their jobs as by those who sole purpose it is to oppress; the piranha can be as deadly as the shark. Darcy, sorry you “hate” the Internet. And that you somehow feel that I “made you” hate the Internet. See that X in the top upper right of your screen? Click it and see what happens. The need for a state – a single authority of law and government, with exclusive jurisdiction over some territory – is a basic assumption of much political theory and popular discourse. Tom Palmer challenges this common prejudice, and makes the case for non-coercive institutions in place of a central monopoly in law, as at present. Vice President of the Cato Institute and General Director of the Atlas Global Initiative, Dr Tom Palmer is a prominent libertarian activist. He has recently published an edited collection of his essays, Realizing Freedom: Libertarian Theory, History and Practice, which defends libertarianism from its critics and ably sets out, with one eye on history, the case for individual freedom and property rights. Recorded at Christ Church, University of Oxford, on 19th October 2009.
2011 could have been named the year of the cell phone camera. Individuals everywhere have used their cell phones or other electronic devices to record interactions with the police. Some States have taken offense to that and have allowed police officers to arrest people for documenting events in public. In 2011, the First Circuit Court of Appeals out of Massachusetts ruled in favor of citizens first amendment rights to record in public. The Court has jurisdiction over MA, NH, RI, ME, and Puerto Rico. Here’s the ruling: www.ca1.uscourts.gov *** Some excerpts: “[I]s there a constitutionally protected right to videotape police carrying out their duties in public? Basic First Amendment principles, along with case law from this and other circuits, answer that question unambiguously in the affirmative.” “Glik filmed the defendant police officers in the Boston Common, the oldest city park in the United States and the apotheosis of a public forum. In such traditional public spaces, the rights of the state to limit the exercise of First Amendment activity are ‘sharply circumscribed.’” “[A] citizen’s right to film government officials, including law enforcement officers, in the discharge of their duties in a public space is a basic, vital, and well-established liberty safeguarded by the First Amendment.” “Gathering information about government officials in a form that can readily be disseminated to others serves a cardinal First Amendment interest in protecting and promoting ‘the …

According to L2, our first amendment right includes the right to freedom of speech. According to Lincoln’s Address ,we have a government “of the people,by the people and for the people”. The SOPA act is a direct violation to people’s right to freedom of knowledge and information, And for that violation the United States government is a disgrace to the land of the free, The free that every United States soldier has fought or died for. We all know and understand what this bill will do to us if it is successfully passed and we will not stop and watch. It is not in the hands of the government to take away something they did not create and take away our freedom of rights. This is a warning going out to anyone supporting SOPA.
