The Federal government does not have any powers unless it is given to them by the Constitution. This lesson explains why, how it works, and what the consequences are. We recently saw an effort like this in Iran when the Iranian citizens used Twitter to broadcast the real story of the post-election protests despite a media blackout enforced by the government of Iran. If Americans are stripped of the ability to use technology to communicate, our government might very well have the ability to stifle speech just as the Iranian government did. While we are all concerned about national security, we must not stand by while our elected officials use scare tactics to trample our rights and take away our fundamental freedoms.
At the 2010 CPAC, Students For Liberty co-founder and President, Alexander mccobin, spoke out in defense of liberty in terms of equal rights for all. The overwhelming response was cheering and applause for sfl’s position. While a later speaker, Ryan Sorba, got up to condemn CPAC for its tolerance and SFL for speaking out in its favor, the crowd booed him off the stage before he could finish his remarks. It also requires them to receive the H1N1 vaccine this year. There is a great deal of discontent among health care workers over this regulation, which was announced just weeks before the deadline. A group of nurses from Poughkeepsie sponsored this rally. Time is short. The deadline for vaccinations is October 16th for Albany Med. A large number of people are upset about this and are fighting back.
