We recently saw an effort like this in Iran when the Iranian citizens used Twitter to broadcast the real story of the post-election protests despite a media blackout enforced by the government of Iran. If Americans are stripped of the ability to use technology to communicate, our government might very well have the ability to stifle speech just as the Iranian government did. While we are all concerned about national security, we must not stand by while our elected officials use scare tactics to trample our rights and take away our fundamental freedoms.

The overwhelming response was cheering and applause for sfl’s position. While a later speaker, Ryan Sorba, got up to condemn CPAC for its tolerance and SFL for speaking out in its favor, the crowd booed him off the stage before he could finish his remarks. Three years ago, smokers and non smokers happily co existed. We socialised together as free and equal human beings. On July 1st 2007, the UK government sided with a minority of anti smoking bigots, and began a campaign of smoker persecution and denormalisation. By doing so they fueled the prejudices of anti smokers, and have since continued to take an active part in the hate crime. Where will it end? Well their stated desire is a smoke free world. And as we all know, smokers cannot exist in a smoke free world.
