Hopes were high in Afghanistan in 2001 following the international intervention but since then human rights gains have been put at risk by corruption, mismanagement and attacks by insurgent groups who have shown systematic contempt for human rights and the laws of war. Today, many Afghans dare to hope for improvements in human rights in their country. The Afghan government and its international supporters must back these hopes with concrete action to defend them.”

When Martin Luther King, Jr., was murdered after he spoke out against war, it was clear we were right. The real Dr King was a radical who had x-ray vision through military-industrial complex bullshit. He knew the war machine was as dangerous to poor and middle class people as racism. Corporatists hated him because he promoted draft resistance and civil disobedience. Civil rights is no immediate threat to war racketeers’ profits. Any healthy young bodies can be used as cannon fodder. It came after 18 days of protests from the Egyptian people who demanded Mubarak’s resignation and reform including free and fair elections. The world has been inspired by the courage and the passion of the people of Egypt in their quest for freedom. Let freedom ring!! I hope this nonviolent movement spreads to other countries in the Middle East and throughout the world where governments are oppressive. Everyone has the right to live free. I hope it creates the environment where the USA must change its foreign policy which props up dictators like Mubarak, and allows the State of Israel to continue its military occupation of Palestine.
