To the People of the United States of America, I am writing today because no one has asked my opinion in any poll. No candidate has sought my vote, and no lobbyist taken up my cause. It seems that of all of the “special interests” in America, mine is forgotten – unworthy of notice by politicians, activists, media commentators, and the press. It may be because I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat, nor represented by lobbyists for the disabled, senior citizens, minorities, trade unions, nor any other lobby. In fact, I am not a member of any group whatsoever. I am the individual. Our Constitution was written to protect me from the majority. I am the victim of Democracy, which has overwhelmed the safeguards of the old Republic and replaced the Republic with mob rule. I am raising my voice now, while I am still able to raise it, if for no other reason than to let posterity know that I was still here when the ruins of our Republic are examined. I have lived my life in a country that proclaims itself to the world to be the “land of the free,” but have watched my freedoms erode. The most basic right I had — ownership of the fruits of my labor — has been taken from me. Now, politicians argue over what portion of my labor will purchase medical care for the poor and elderly, what portion will pay social security, what portion will educate other people’s children, and what paltry sum I will be allowed to keep so that I may go out tomorrow and work another day. When I first heard about the possibilities of this National Defense Authorization Act almost a year ago, I dismissed it because it is so extreme and so devastating to every American. I could not believe that our own Government would do it to their own people, here in America. Now, the worst nightmare has come true. The (NDAA) National Defense Authorization Act has been approved and days away from becoming law. This is the same power the history’s worst dictators used to slaughter millions of their own people. If the American People allow this, they will be buying their own jail cells or FEMA concentration camps. No Government, or Dictator would ever want this power if they did not have something planned to do with it. It just doesn’t make any sense. About the NDAA The Senate has passed the National Defense Authorization Act, a bill that will give US military control over the US streets bringing the battlefield to the United States , arrest American citizens without due process and herd them of to detention centers anywhere in the world. The provision was hashed out in secret by Senators Carl Levin and John McCain. Lindsay Graham, a supporter of the bill, explained that it would, “basically say in law for the first time that the homeland is part of the battlefield” and people can be imprisoned without charge or trial “American …
RTR.org | In what can only be considered a tragic irony, the US Senate passed out of the final conference committee the controversial National Defense Authorization Act of 2012, coinciding with the 220th Anniversary of the ratification of the Bill of Rights. Section 1031 of the National Defense Authorization Act otherwise known as the NDAA, provides broad authority for the federal government to use the military in domestic operations in order to detain Americans indefinitely and without trial. Such a move not only whitewashes the natural rights of Americans, whereby even publicly criticizing the federal government can now rise to the purposefully vague definition of a “belligerent act”, it also sits in direct violation of “Posse Comitatus” an 1878 law forbidding use of the military at home and against Americans.
