Freedom, how long will it last?

2011 could have been named the year of the cell phone camera. Individuals everywhere have used their cell phones or other electronic devices to record interactions with the police. Some States have taken offense to that and have allowed police officers to arrest people for documenting events in public. In 2011, the First Circuit Court of Appeals out of Massachusetts ruled in favor of citizens first amendment rights to record in public. The Court has jurisdiction over MA, NH, RI, ME, and Puerto Rico. Lawmakers follow Aquino, turn wary over passing freedom of info bill By Gil Cabacungan Philippine Daily Inquirer 4:02 am | Monday, November 7th, 2011 A number of lawmakers belonging to different political parties are now hedging on passing the freedom of information bill, echoing President Benigno Aquino III’s line that it could be “prone to abuse.” House Majority Leader Neptali Gonzales of the Liberal Party, Nueva Ecija Representative Rodolfo Antonino of the National Unity Party and Valenzuela City Representative Rex Gatchalian of the National People’s Coalition said that Congress had to make sure there were “enough safeguards” to ensure that a freedom of information bill “would not be used for mischief against other persons.” The freedom of information bill would allow the public to obtain records of government transactions, meetings and other business, a right enshrined in the Constitution. But for almost a quarter of a century, lawmakers have effectively withheld the people’s enjoyment of this right by failing to pass its implementing guidelines. Ventura made his comments outside the federal courthouse in St. Paul, where in January he sued to challenge the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) airport security procedures. The suit was thrown out because Congress set up the law so that all such challenges must be brought directly in Circuit Courts of Appeals, wrote US District Judge Susan Richard Nelson. After getting a titanium implant in his hip in 2008, Ventura’s suit said, he started lighting up airport magnetometers. At first, screeners waved a magnetic hand wand over him and sent him through. But last year, the TSA’s enhanced screening procedures meant he had to go through invasive full-body scans or pat-downs, the suit added. No one can deny that 10 years after the staged terror attacks of 9-11 Americans are losing more and more freedom with each passing day. The American people are being made to give up their rights and become a welfare nation totally dependent on government that is responsible for allowing companies to move jobs over seas and run up our dept with ever expanding wars. There are check points, cameras and secret police everywhere making people think twice and three times before leaving there homes in fear of getting tickets or harassed by police who have been trained to see everyone as criminals or terrorist.The government and police no longer serve the people, but instead they have twisted things so the people must prove to them they are are not criminals or terrorist.
