Anarchism, Limited Government, and Liberalism: A Modest Case for Sacking the State

Posted by admin on 8th February 2012

The need for a state – a single authority of law and government, with exclusive jurisdiction over some territory – is a basic assumption of much political theory and popular discourse. Tom Palmer challenges this common prejudice, and makes the case for non-coercive institutions in place of a central monopoly in law, as at present. Vice President of the Cato Institute and General Director of the Atlas Global Initiative, Dr Tom Palmer is a prominent libertarian activist. He has recently published an edited collection of his essays, Realizing Freedom: Libertarian Theory, History and Practice, which defends libertarianism from its critics and ably sets out, with one eye on history, the case for individual freedom and property rights. Recorded at Christ Church, University of Oxford, on 19th October 2009.

If You See Something, Film Something (You Have The Right To Film The Police)

Posted by admin on 5th February 2012

2011 could have been named the year of the cell phone camera. Individuals everywhere have used their cell phones or other electronic devices to record interactions with the police. Some States have taken offense to that and have allowed police officers to arrest people for documenting events in public. In 2011, the First Circuit Court of Appeals out of Massachusetts ruled in favor of citizens first amendment rights to record in public. The Court has jurisdiction over MA, NH, RI, ME, and Puerto Rico. Here’s the ruling: www.ca1.uscourts.gov *** Some excerpts: “[I]s there a constitutionally protected right to videotape police carrying out their duties in public? Basic First Amendment principles, along with case law from this and other circuits, answer that question unambiguously in the affirmative.” “Glik filmed the defendant police officers in the Boston Common, the oldest city park in the United States and the apotheosis of a public forum. In such traditional public spaces, the rights of the state to limit the exercise of First Amendment activity are ‘sharply circumscribed.’” “[A] citizen’s right to film government officials, including law enforcement officers, in the discharge of their duties in a public space is a basic, vital, and well-established liberty safeguarded by the First Amendment.” “Gathering information about government officials in a form that can readily be disseminated to others serves a cardinal First Amendment interest in protecting and promoting ‘the

PRES. AQUINO VOWED TO MAKE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION HIS ADMIN PRIORITY

Posted by admin on 23rd January 2012

Lawmakers follow Aquino, turn wary over passing freedom of info bill By Gil Cabacungan Philippine Daily Inquirer 4:02 am | Monday, November 7th, 2011 A number of lawmakers belonging to different political parties are now hedging on passing the freedom of information bill, echoing President Benigno Aquino III’s line that it could be “prone to abuse.” House Majority Leader Neptali Gonzales of the Liberal Party, Nueva Ecija Representative Rodolfo Antonino of the National Unity Party and Valenzuela City Representative Rex Gatchalian of the National People’s Coalition said that Congress had to make sure there were “enough safeguards” to ensure that a freedom of information bill “would not be used for mischief against other persons.” The freedom of information bill would allow the public to obtain records of government transactions, meetings and other business, a right enshrined in the Constitution. But for almost a quarter of a century, lawmakers have effectively withheld the people’s enjoyment of this right by failing to pass its implementing guidelines. President Aquino earlier said he had not yet made up his mind whether or not to support any of the freedom of information bills pending in Congress. “Freedom of Information Act sounds so good and noble but at the same time, first of all, you’ll notice that here in this country there’s a tendency to get information and not really utilize it for the proper purposes,” the President had said during an open forum at a gathering of

Angry Ventura has no more Patriotism left, thinks about running for Prez, tho!

Posted by admin on 15th January 2012

FYI: www.youtube.com Jesse Ventura Berates Facist America Over Court Ruling 2011 One day after Jesse Ventura lost his legal challenge to airport pat-downs and full-body scans, the former Minnesota governor declared Friday that he will “never fly commercial again” and just might run for president so he can change passenger security measures. Ventura made his comments outside the federal courthouse in St. Paul, where in January he sued to challenge the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) airport security procedures. The suit was thrown out because Congress set up the law so that all such challenges must be brought directly in Circuit Courts of Appeals, wrote US District Judge Susan Richard Nelson. After getting a titanium implant in his hip in 2008, Ventura’s suit said, he started lighting up airport magnetometers. At first, screeners waved a magnetic hand wand over him and sent him through. But last year, the TSA’s enhanced screening procedures meant he had to go through invasive full-body scans or pat-downs, the suit added. The scans reveal too much and the pat-downs require a security officer to grope his body, “including private and sensitive areas,” the suit read. “I will never fly commercially again,” Ventura said to reporters Friday, adding that he hasn’t flown since he was searched at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport nearly a year ago. He complained that the federal courts are denying him constitutional rights, but said that he’s unsure

Nazi York … Slavery is Freedom !

Posted by admin on 1st January 2012

No one can deny that 10 years after the staged terror attacks of 9-11 Americans are losing more and more freedom with each passing day. The American people are being made to give up their rights and become a welfare nation totally dependent on government that is responsible for allowing companies to move jobs over seas and run up our dept with ever expanding wars. There are check points, cameras and secret police everywhere making people think twice and three times before leaving there homes in fear of getting tickets or harassed by police who have been trained to see everyone as criminals or terrorist. The government and police no longer serve the people, but instead they have twisted things so the people must prove to them they are are not criminals or terrorist. We here who live in America are being conditioned to accept tyranny as freedom , ignorance as strength and war as peace. The American people have turned their backs on the Constitution and bill of rights and embraced the lies that were used to strip away the protections the founding fathers left in place to prevent tyrants and dictators from enslaving us. Behold the Nazi like police state that is sweeping across America in the name of safety and security. If the American people don’t wake up now and see that freedom and liberty is something that you never compromise with…but something that be guard jealously until the day you die for the sake of your children. Learn this lesson to late and you and your

Ron Paul Supports Decriminalization/Legalization of ALL Drugs

Posted by admin on 27th December 2011

www.facebook.com Drug prohibition Paul contends that prohibition of drugs is ineffective and advocates ending the War on Drugs.[248][249][250] “Prohibition doesn’t work. Prohibition causes crime.” He believes that drug abuse should be treated as a medical problem, “We treat alcoholism now as a medical problem and I, as a physician, think we should treat drug addiction as a medical problem and not as a crime.” The Constitution does not enumerate or delegate to Congress the authority to ban or regulate drugs in general. He believes the war on drugs is a racist policy against African Americans, who are affected disproportionally. Paul believes in personal responsibility, but also sees inequity in the current application of drug enforcement laws, noting in 2000, “Many prisoners are non-violent and should be treated as patients with addictions, not as criminals. Irrational mandatory minimal sentences have caused a great deal of harm. We have non-violent drug offenders doing life sentences, and there is no room to incarcerate the rapists and murderers.”[251] When asked about his position on implementing the tenth amendment, Paul explained, “Certain medical procedures and medical choices, I would allow the states to determine that. The state law should prevail not the Federal Government.” Speaking specifically about Drug Enforcement Administration raids on medical marijuana clinics Paul said, “They’re unconstitutional,” and went on to advocate states’ rights[252] and personal
